About ClosedLoop: Isle of Wight Waste & Recycling

Our Story

Built on service. Driven by recycling. Rooted on the island.

ClosedLoop is a family-owned, veteran-run waste collection and recycling business based on the Isle of Wight. We provide commercial waste collections for local businesses, with a clear focus on recycling more, reducing landfill use and keeping waste management simple, reliable and responsible.

We started ClosedLoop because we believe Island businesses deserve a more personal and practical alternative to large national waste providers. Being based here means we understand the challenges local businesses face — from seasonal demand and limited space, to the added complexity of waste leaving the Island.

Our aim is to help businesses manage their waste properly, without unnecessary hassle. We collect general waste, dry mixed recycling, glass, cardboard and food waste, while working to divert as much material as possible away from landfill.

For us, waste collection is not just about taking bags and bins away. It is about building a better local system - One that supports Isle of Wight businesses, improves recycling, and helps look after the Island we call home.

ClosedLoop is built on straightforward communication, dependable service, and doing things properly.

Charles Simpson,
Founder & Bin Man

ClosedLoop Charles

After a career in the military working in bomb disposal, Charles decided it was time for a quieter life — so naturally, he started a waste collection company.

Having fallen in love with the Isle of Wight, he moved here with a simple aim: to build a local business that does things properly. ClosedLoop was born from a mix of service, common sense, and a stubborn belief that Island waste should be handled better.

As Founder and Chief Bin Man, Charles brings the same calm, practical approach from bomb disposal to waste and recycling — although thankfully, most bins are slightly less explosive.

ClosedLoop Beans

Beans Simpson,
Head of Wellbeing

At just 1 year old, Beans has already secured one of the most important roles at ClosedLoop: Head of Wellbeing.

His duties include keeping morale high, supervising snack breaks, and making sure nobody gets through the day without at least one cuddle. He may not know much about waste management yet, but he brings plenty of enthusiasm, questionable decision-making, and a firm belief that every meeting would be better with a belly rub.

Beans is a much-loved part of the ClosedLoop family — small in size, big in personality, and always available for staff wellbeing checks.
